Season 1: Aug. - Dec. 2022
Are we responding to an authentic need in the community? What further investigations do we need to take in order to find out what our community needs? Are we considering all the different consequences of our actions? Is what we are doing in our club actually good? Who is it good for?
Today, society is experiencing an age of technological innovation which centers around coding skills. More and more jobs require some background in coding due to the world’s increasing collaboration with technology. Therefore, learning and teaching others how to code, gives the next generation opportunities to expand on their pathways in future jobs.

What were our original goals? Do we need to revise our goals? Are you on track to achieve our goals? How are we doing with our action plan and timeline? How can we stay on track?
As a group, we believe that we are on course with, not only, our action plan, but also our goals pertaining to creating educational python videos for our website. Right now, we are in the midst of creating our first video which is where we planned to be in our timeline. These videos will contribute to our progress learning python ourselves and teach the global community. In the future, we want to continue our path of learning and teaching with a focus on understanding the content first.

How are we doing as a group? Is everyone contributing equally/equitably? Does everyone feel included? How can we improve the group's dynamics to make sure everyone can work well together?
Due to our smaller size, we feel that we have become closer as a group which makes collaborating and sharing ideas easier. We find ourselves enjoying our time spent together while still learning the needed content. Moving forward, we have plans to publish our site in the school’s news letter, give a lesson to the Adelaide students and encourage the wider community to take an interest in coding.

What have we completed in our MCM club this season? What have we learnt? (descriptions of actions)
During this MCM club season, we were able to focus on individual coding skills, such as positioning on a canvas, several different functions to draw shapes, and ways to fill in each shape with color. Through learning these skills, members were able to learn the value of collaboration and creativity, as they used CMU academy and other programming websites to apply their newfound expertise. Recently, coding club members worked on applying these skills to create videos for our website, which can be found here: collaborativecoders.com. By creating these videos, members have not only improved as coders, but also as students, as they learn about responsibility, teamwork and inquiring.

How do we feel about our progress and what more can we do? (thoughts and progress)
As a club, we feel that we have made adequate progress in our coding skills and have been able to acquire a new understanding of programming in a changing world.and educate our school community about the benefits of coding. One of the areas we wished we had done more of is creating more videos and acquiring more skills, as coding is such a vast topic with many sub-topics. That being said, members were able to fulfil the needs of completing two topics on CMU Academy, and their reflections are up to date. Everyone feels very positive of the improvements we can make in the next semester, and the new skills we can build on top of what we have already learned.

What learning goals can we apply to our achievements? (learning goals/outcomes- see attached screenshot)
The main learning goal we have accomplished is our ability to “undertake challenges” and “develop new skills in the process,” during our MCM meetings. When developing these skills and undertaking challenges, we were not only able to improve them individually, but also as a group, therefore fulfilling the additional goal of collaborating while improving our skills. Finally, members were able to demonstrate commitment and perseverance to the club, as we each communicated with each other to ensure that everything went smoothly, and all our tasks were

Season 2: Jan. - May 2023
Which learning outcomes (look at ManageBac for the learning outcomes for CAS) have we achieved this season? What examples do we have to demonstrate our achievements?
Throughout this season so far, we believed that we have achieved progress in the following learning outcomes: initiative and planning, collaborative skills, and strength and growth. Our main example of our achievement in these areas is when we planned and taught a lesson for the Adelaide School kids at the upper school. This was a new experience for all of us, so we had to work together to create a lesson plan that would suit our audience. By including everyone in the planning even if some members were not able to make it to the actual day was beneficial in gaining multiple perspectives on a lesson. Certainly none of us had to do this initiative, but showing devotion and drive to deliver a valuable lesson to kids shows our willingness to take charge of the goals we want to achieve. By the end of this experience, we’ve all grown as individuals and as a team, learning teaching, communicating, and adapting skills

What do we still need to complete this season? What steps do we need to take to complete this?
Over this Semester we have worked on making progress in collaborating with the Adelaide kids. However, in the coming weeks we need to complete our other main goal of working on videos to publish on the website. This will require focus and determination, and we will need to work together in order to finish them on time. Steps include working on a script, graphics and editing in preparation of publishing it. Besides video publishing, we also need to work on finalizing our second lesson plan for Adelaide, and ensuring we are more familiar with Scratch before returning.

How can we ensure a continuation of our club next year? Who will most likely be leaders for next year?
While we still have a few more Semesters until we need to begin a transfer of power, we have started discussing the possibility of training members to take on coding club during our 12th grade year. Included in this is the training and all the requirements needed to run the club, along with organizing with superiors. Current leaders will always be around to help the new leaders assume their role until they are fully able to lead on their own. One of the main concerns is that during fall of 2024, the website will be expiring, meaning all our progress will be lost. Because of this, we need to ensure whoever takes over Coding Club is passionate about it, and excited to continue the club. Our CMU Academy subscription will not be a problem, which does alleviate some of the stress of transferring leadership.
